Just had tea and strawberry shortcake at the house of the sweetest older couple from our church! Another lady who is also a new member of the chuch was there as well, and we had 2 hours of very pleasant conversation. These types of serendipitous moments make me feel so happy and fulfilled. I sometimes have a hard time feeling at ease in large groups of new people, but I absolutely love spending time with a few new people who are so warm and pleasant and easy to talk to. I feel so enriched to enter into conversation with people who live rich lives and have great stories to tell–sad, glad, funny, and interesting–but all worth hearing. I love meeting people who inspire me in the way they live their lives, even if it’s just due to a wise comment, a gentle spirit, or uncommon poise. As my brother said so aptly, we all need heroes.
