Tomorrow we are scheduled for the ultrasound to find out if we are having a boy or a girl! We’re so excited we can hardly stand it!
In spite of the miracle God has already done with regard to this unborn baby, a small part of me fears bad news, just as I have before every other ultrasound up to this point. I was about to do some reading for school when I felt a familiar, strong tug to go read my Bible. After resisting for a moment, I gave in, which is, of course, always to my eventual delight. This is what the Lord said, speaking to my fears and reassuring me yet again:
When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion,
we were like men who dreamed.
Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
Restore our fortunes, O LORD,
like streams in the Negev.
Those who sow in tears
will reap songs of joy.
He who goes out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with him.
–Psalm 126
How patient and long-suffering the Lord is with me! It is good to be His beloved daughter. Bill St. Cyr, executive director from Ambleside Schools International, defines joy as “It is good to be me here with you,” which is precisely what I feel at this moment. Truly, the LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
