all I know: a waiting song

I’m not a songwriter, but a few weeks ago, I wrote this song. I was waiting for news from a very important doctor appointment for someone whom I love so much, it hurts. I was beside myself with anxiety. I couldn’t think straight or get anything done, so I stepped outside and paid attention to the sights, sounds, and sensations around me. In the paying attention, I felt God with me.

all I know: the waiting song
By Lindsay L. O’Connor

I feel my feet solid on the ground
as I stand amidst my fears.
The sun in the sky
and the breeze on my face,
touching every tear.

All I know is You are here,
in the warmth of the sun
and the cool of the breeze,
catching every tear.

Flowers open and a bird sings a song
I hear but I can’t see.
The mystery of You in every thing
You’re holding on to me.

All I hope is You are here
In every breath,
I feel Your name.
Creator, be near.

I've seen me in You, at last,
and I see You in me.
Give me eyes to see the divine in
each person I meet.

All I know is You are here,
in the warmth of the sun
and the cool of the breeze.
Creator, be near.
